ArkaArka License Agreement
Effective 17 October 2026
In short: Arka is free to use on as many servers as you like, for any lawful purpose — including hosting your customers' sites. You may not resell or redistribute it, or modify it. It comes without warranty. The full terms below are what apply.
1. The agreement
This License Agreement (the “Agreement”) is between you — the individual or the organisation on whose behalf you install Arka (“you”) — and VulnTech, India (“VulnTech”). It covers the Arka software in object-code form, including its control panel, updates VulnTech provides for it and its accompanying documentation (together, the “Software”).
By installing, copying or using the Software you accept this Agreement. If you do not accept it, do not install or use the Software.
2. What you may do
VulnTech grants you a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, royalty-free license, for as long as this Agreement lasts, to:
- install and run the Software on any number of servers you own, rent or control;
- use it for any lawful purpose, personal or commercial — including to host, serve and protect websites and applications for your own customers;
- make copies as needed to install, back up and run it, and let your employees and contractors use it on your behalf.
The Software is free of charge. VulnTech may offer paid services, such as support, separately and under separate terms.
3. What you may not do
Except as this Agreement allows or as the law permits despite this restriction, you may not:
- sell, rent, lease, sublicense or distribute the Software, or offer it for download, as a standalone product or as part of another software product (installing it on servers you operate for your customers is allowed);
- modify the Software, or reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits it;
- remove, alter or hide any copyright, trademark or license notice in the Software;
- circumvent or disable the verification of signed updates, or distribute modified copies presented as Arka;
- use the Software to break the law or to attack systems you are not authorised to test.
4. Third-party components
The Software includes open-source components, such as the OWASP Core Rule Set and libinjection, that are licensed to you under their own terms. Those terms are listed on the third-party notices page and in the package (/usr/share/doc/arka/). Nothing in this Agreement limits the rights those licenses give you.
5. Ownership
The Software is licensed, not sold. VulnTech and its licensors keep all rights, title and interest in it, including all intellectual property rights, apart from the license granted above. “Arka” and the Arka logo are trademarks of VulnTech.
6. Updates and the update service
By default the Software checks VulnTech's update service (upgrades.vulntech.com) for new versions about every six hours, sending only the version it runs and the machine type, as the Privacy Policy describes. Updates are installed only when you or your administrator choose to. You can turn update checks off in the configuration. Updates are covered by this Agreement unless they come with different terms.
7. Your data
The Software runs on your own servers. Your configuration, certificates, logs, panel accounts and the traffic of your sites stay on those servers; VulnTech does not receive them. You are responsible for the data you process with the Software and for complying with the laws that apply to it.
8. Feedback
If you send VulnTech suggestions or feedback about the Software, VulnTech may use them without obligation to you.
9. No warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. You are responsible for configuring, securing, monitoring and backing up the systems on which you run the Software and the services you provide with it.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VULNTECH SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM THE SOFTWARE OR THIS AGREEMENT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY. BECAUSE THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, VULNTECH'S TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THIS AGREEMENT SHALL NOT EXCEED INR 5,000 (FIVE THOUSAND INDIAN RUPEES). Nothing in this Agreement limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Termination
This Agreement lasts until it is terminated. It ends automatically if you breach it and do not fix the breach within 30 days of becoming aware of it. You may end it at any time by uninstalling the Software. When it ends you must stop using the Software and delete your copies. The sections on ownership, third-party components, no warranty, limitation of liability and governing law survive termination.
12. Export
You are responsible for complying with the export control and sanctions laws that apply to your use and transfer of the Software.
13. General
This Agreement is the entire agreement between you and VulnTech about the Software. If any part of it cannot be enforced, the rest remains in effect. VulnTech's failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer this Agreement without VulnTech's consent; VulnTech may transfer it to a successor of its business. VulnTech may publish an updated version of this Agreement; it applies to versions of the Software released after its effective date.
14. Governing law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of India. The courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it, except that VulnTech may seek urgent relief in any competent court.
